The Americas! (Part III)
Sunday was another lazy day hanging out T.N.N. and the family. We had lunch at L's in-laws house and re-acquainted ourselves with their extended family. There was a brief and frenetic easter egg hunt, finger sandwiches, presents for the weeuns, heaps of food. The day was concluded with some wine and Top Gun. Whatever happened to Kelly McGillis anyway?

As I lay on the couch trying to sleep off a fever last night, Top Gun was playing on one of the tv channels. I found myself wondering the same thing about Kelly McGillis. What happened to her? Did she mutate into Rene Russo? Do her and Tom Cruise still talk?
Also, I've never seen Top Gun all the way through and watching yet another section of it last night I was struck by how easily audiences of the 1980's were entertained. I mean, it seems like just a bunch of guys with obscured faces shouting things intercut with jet footage.
I think you're on to something with the Renee Russo theory...
Since the last time I saw Top Gun (years ago) I had heard people say that it's rife with latent homosexual tension. They were right.
